Dorming for freshman

Does anyone know of a way to be able to ensure me and my friend will be guaranteed to be together but also get a 4 person room?

It’ll be difficult. Make sure to request each other of course but also put in a preference for a 4-person room and a 3 person room over a 2 person room. Also you’ll want to request dorms that have quads. Bradley/Paterson/Morrison/Mack are some of the few on South that do. Morrison’s is kinda small, B/P’s are huge

Many of the new dorms on North campus have four person rooms. If you rank your roommate choice as your first priority you definitely have a chance. If not than you will still be able to room with them in a different room set up.

If you look at the north residential district floor plans–NONE of the new rooms have 4/room from what I can see. I am assuming the freshman woujld be placed in the blue rooms with the community baths–not the suites. This is much more conducive to making friends–especially if you don’t get along with your suitemates.

Drackett Tower is closed this year but is scheduled to open this Fall. It had 4 person rooms and I suspect it will when it re-opens. Taylor Tower is also on north campus but its an honors dorm. It has about 1/2 of its rooms which are two person (same size as 4 person rooms) so about 2/3rds of the kids living there are in 4-person rooms. Not sure if Drackett will have 2 person rooms though I suspect those tend to go to upperclassmen.

From what I have seen, the new dorms on north campus have 2 person rooms only. There are 4 and 6 person suites on each floor (very limited number) which are 2 or 3 bedrooms sharing a common living area and bathroom. But I expect those go to underclassmen.
