dormroom necessities

i have an older sister at college, and throughout the years she's picked up things for her dormroom. i'm not talking about posters and stuff like that-some of the things she's gotten are a brita water pitcher, a nice chair for her desk (apparently dorm chairs suck), and a decent speaker system. i was curious as to what people would recommend a future college student buy for his/her room besides the obvious tv/fridge/etc. thanks in advance

A stuffed animal to hide weed in....

jk :P

I would recommend neither a tv nor a fridge (and most people at my college have neither) but that might depend on where you go to college. Honestly, I would recommend you bring the bare minimum (sheets, hamper, alarm clock, etc) and get the rest once you are at college and see what you need and what you have space for.

A towel to put under the door if you are a pot-head.

If not then everyone needs some good Tupperware or Gladware or something like that.

Maybe a lamp or something too. Personally, I hate flourescent lights so I always try to use something else.

I agree with b@r!um as well, don't lug a bunch of stuff with you. Wait until you get there to see what you really need. Sounds like you are already getting good info from big sis'.

noise cancelling headphones... useful if you are a guy since guys tend to be much louder than girls... if you want to be able to study in your room, that is.

Contraceptives, please.
