Dorms and GOCards

Is there air-conditioning inside the dorms?

If you didn't send in a photo for your GOCard, is it possible to do it during orientation and if so, how long does it take to receive it?

-Deion S.

air conditioning: haha, it would be very, very, very awful to live in DC without it. each room has it's own control, I kept mine freezing year-round.

gocard: don't worry about it, you just have to wait in line for about 5-10 minutes and your card will be printed out within a minute or two of you getting your photo taken.

i dont know why theyre like, " WE NEED A PIC A MONTH IN ADVANCE OR ELSE YOU WONT HAVE A CARD IN TIME! OMGGGGGGG!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" because i sent them the pic and the ID card was made the next day lol.

can anyone tell me the address where we are supposed to email our go-card picture? I can't find it

I think some of the dorms air conditioning is controlled throughout the building. I think I remember people in Harbin complaining about how they turned on the heat too early. New South definitely has individual air conditioning and heating though, and it was very nice.

Hahah, I didn't know that about Harbin, that sucks.

I lived in Harbin last year and each room has its own temperature control. I think it's Village C without thermostats in every room. I remember people who lived in Village C complaining that it was too hot to sleep in the winter.

How did you like Harbin?

What time does Leo's open on Saturdays and Sundays during the school year? I see 10:30 on the site, but that is for the summer session. Thanks in advance.

Oh and if anyone could comment on Darnall Hall that would be great!

bdibble, it's 10:30 year-round. It sucks because by the time you finish breakfast (brunch) your day is half over. But, such is life. Sugar's and the Georgetown Bagelry are a short walk away if you like to get up early.

Darnall is decent, except for being far away from the dining hall/library. I personally like it's location because I really like to study in th Leavey Center. I don't remember if the beds were bunkable in there, but like New South most of the furniture was built in so you have limited mobility as far as furniture goes.

ah sugar's is closed isn't it though....:(

Unfortunately, Sugars is closed. (cry)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! Well, the Bagelry is better anyway!

yeah, i really liked sugar's too. kinda overpriced, but good food. had it when i did the summer college during HS, and had it for 2 yrs here, and now its gone....wisey's sucks, in my opinion, lol(probably gonna get shot by people for saying that).

Darnall does have bunkable beds, but keep in mind they are regular twin beds, not XL. There is also private air conditioning in Darnall.

One last thing- I heard Darnall was getting renovated this summer, is that true? It could just be a rumor.

Um... JasonHoya, what are you on?? Wisey's is awesome. It's basically going to be my meal plan this year.

Easier said than done. Throughout the summer, I've had nearly every Wisey's sandwich. It all tastes so blah now. And Darnall isn't being renovated, AFAIK. The only complex being renovated is Village A, which is already done.

haha daria1000, it's ok i guess. I guess I just had enough after freshman year. I'd rather go to Booey's(even though it's further), or something on M or Wisconsin. Then again, I don't like Chipotle either, so apparently i'm weird....hahahaha.
