Dorms at SDSU

haha i think that’s the actual party hall at SDSU
Have fun!

How are Chapultepec and Cuicacalli? I heard that they’re the best ones to live in.

Also… this may sound like a stupid question, but what does “single room” and “double room” mean?

My daughter is a freshman in Zura this year and really loves it. It’s my understanding SDSU clusters students by major…so that you might be on the same dorm floor with other students with the same major. She is on a floor with ‘undeclared’ majors. However, there weren’t enough to fill up the floor or perhaps requested to live on a floor with undeclared majors so there are students with other majors on her dorm floor.

The traditional halls (e.g. Zura, Tenocha, Maya, Olmeca) are ones where it supposedly easier to meet others. The suites (Cuicella) are ones where you will be close to your suite mates but dont’ necessarily meet students in other suites. I can only speculate that perhaps the dorms with suites are ones that don’t allow the doors to stay open. The dorms listed above are clustered together. University Towers (which I believe will be for upper classman next year) is in a different location and Chappy is on the other side of the campus.

Someone asked about a double vs. single. Doubles are dorm rooms with 2 ppl assigned; singles have just one person assigned to the room. Single rooms are smaller than double rooms. The housing website on SDSU is very good in terms of showing you options.

I chose to live in Tenocha cause i want to meet new people my first year but maybe how SDFAN01 said they organize the floors by major i end up in Zura cause am an underclared.

To student who requested Tenocha…I believe when you request housing you put in your preferences…I think you have to put in 8 options, in priority order. Some of the options are ‘living communities’. The living communities are specific floors for students with similar interests or majors.
So if you want to live on a floor with certain majors, you request it if that is an option. So just because you are undeclared, they will not automatically put you on that floor. In fact one of the students on the floor requested undeclared even though she is declared.
So just select your dorm preferences and hopefully you will get in one of your top options.
Hope that makes sense.

ok so sorry if im being repetitive but is Tenocha that crazy?

my daughter is going to be attending SDSU in the fall as a freshman. I have heard so many pro’s and con’s about the dorms. You said your daughter loves Zura. What does she love about it I have heard it is really old and run down? Is it the social she likes? My daughter wants a social dorm and is thinking about Zura or Tenochca. I understand Zura can be pretty noisy and wild. Please give me whatever feedback you can give me regarding the dorm situations asap since we need to send in the housing information tonight. I am interested in any feedback you can give me regarding the dorms.

I read some opinions on several different websites about the housing options and in the end I came up with these as my 6 options:

Mini-Suite Double Room in University Towers(Upper Division Experience)

Mini-Suite Double as a Single Room in University Towers(UDE)

Mini-Suite Double Room in the Gender-Neutral Housing at UT

Suite Double Room in the Gender-Neutral Housing at Cuicacalli

Suite Double Room in Cuicacalli

Double as a Single Room in Chapultepec

Does anybody have any opinions in regards to my selection?
I’m nervous, but I still have a chance to change my options because I haven’t submitted my housing application.

Feedback, please

I had your “1.” as a freshman and loved it, with the best possible roommate.

is it true that freshman cannot live in the university towers?

Maybe I am just totally lost here but what is this housing thing we needed to submit? I wasnt aware of it. Is it just for freshman because I’m a transfer (havent recieved my decision yet). Can someone please fill me in

Torn between my decisions …

its either Zura , Tenochca, or Chappy .

Helpppp !

To past residents:is cuicacalli worth it? By far the nicest housing

what does gender neutral really mean? I want to live in University Towers and the website says that the floors are co-ed and the suites are same-gender, so what does the options of gender neutral suite at University Towers

Chapultepec?? Does it matter that it’s across campus from the other resident halls?

Does someone know when the license agreement for spring semester will be available? I am a student coming from Paris and I absolutely want to live in the dorms…
Thank you for your help!

Hi, I’m a student form the Netherlands and going to attend SDSU for one semester fall 2013. I’m looking at the housing opportunities and decided to apply for on-campus apartments. I can chose between Fraternity row, Piedra del So.l and the Sanctuary Apartments. They provide floor plans and pictures but that doesn’t really help. Can someone provide me with information about these apartments? Like is it noisy at night when you live in the fratrow apartments?

Can anyone tell me which dorms are part of the ROTC Living Learning Community?
