Dorms at UCR

@Katecat27 Its completely bipolar! One day its pouring and the next its sunny. The average temp. is about 65 but there are some nice days and some really crappy days. Its pretty common for it to be freezing in the morning but heat up as the day goes. I would recommend investing in some warm clothing. I’m a girl so that sounds doable as I own all of that haha! Congrats on getting into Berkeley and Davis!

In Riverside it gets a bit colder, but it’s rarely below 60 here. It also almost never rains. Looks like I’ll need an umbrella, warm jacket and boots if I go up north! Thanks! Riverside is by far the cheapest though, so it’s definetly high on my list :))

I’d go with air conditioning, for sure! Daughter went to UCLA and was in one of the halls with only air con in the hallways, which seems pretty silly. They were melting the first couple months of school, and Riverside is WAY hotter than Westwood. Luckily they allowed you to bring fans. Can anyone comment on Enguinity Hall, the floor reserved for engineering majors?

I also want to know about the Enginuity Hall what is different about it other than it being reserved for Engineering majors only? I am strongly considering UCR because of the tuition.

Hey guys incoming UCR student too! I visited the school and trust me, you don’t want to be in AI. It’s hot, crowded (the hallways are almost the width of your shoulders), and dirty. I didn’t tour Lothian but my guide said it was a nice hall. She said the east side is better but I don’t think we can chose which wing so it’s sort of a gamble. Pentland is extremely nice, but then again there’s a money issue. Despite it, I might want pentland due to the whole bathroom situation

What’s the facebook page called?

So I thought I’d throw my 2 cents here as an alumni and someone who has lived in pentland and east Lothian.

The only dorms I would recommend are pentland and east Lothian (aka east lo). I wouldn’t want to live in west lo and AI, just sayin… Pentland facilities are maybe a little nicer than east lo. I don’t really have a overly large preference on either dorms bathroom situation. They both were fine for me. East lo maybe has a slightly more socially active atmosphere, but it really depends on the people in your hall more than which hall your in. Most of the friends I made were through orientation or through classes. As for the engineering halls and stuff, you’ll have PLENTY of opportunities to bond with your engineering classmates the next 4 years. You might as well try to meet some different people. They actually stuck me in the business hall in pentland even though I was an engineer. No idea how that happened. Doesn’t really feel all that special in my opinion. They set up some special networking events for you and that’s about it.
