dorms for a pre med?

i will be following a pre med track at uf, majoring in either bio, chem, or psych. obviously i will need to be focused on my studying. i put down rawlings, beaty, then jennings in terms of my 3 preferred fall/spring housing. i know rawlings is traditional, but i want to meet people faster and i think itd be easier in a more traditional, communal bathroom-type dorm. however, would my studies suffer? would rawlings be too rowdy, or could i try going to libraries or something? all comments are welcome. thanks.

I'm going to be a freshmen next year too, but it's been my understanding (based on what I've heard from current students) that almost no one studies in their dorms. Everyone goes to the libraries instead, cause they're super quiet.

my daughter is for pre-med too and I need to find a dorm that she can study but meet people. Is Neely your last name Neelyboy? That is our last name too. My daughter starts summer B

I wouldn't say everyone. People go to the library if its their thing, but I know many that just study in their room or computer lab.

Go with what you like. I know that Broward, Jennings, Murphree Area, Graham area all have large study room/library/lounges were you can study without going to the main libraries. Traditional dorms can get loud/disruptive, so I would go with one with a study space or you can go to the library.

ASMAJ, so do you think a beaty-type dorm would be better? i'm not planning on studying in my room all the time, i'm just wondering if broward would be too much of a crazy party atmosphere where i wouldn't be able to ever "relax" in my dorm. also, how are the "common" kitchen rooms on floors like in broward. are there multiple appliances open for use, is it always busy, pretty nice amenities? thanks.

Live in a communal dorm like Broward, Rawlings, etc...you'll meet so many people and make a lot of friends.

Don't worry about studying, Marston and Library West(the 2 biggest libraries on campus) are a 5 and 10 minute walk from the Broward area.

Beaty isn't horrible, but it's less social since they're apartment styled. Either way, enjoy your freshman semesters, its when you'll have the most fun with the least responsibility.
