I lived at USC (Pardee) over the summer and pretty much everyone had trouble with wireless reception. Are some dorms known for this/what are good dorms to live in in terms of internet?

I'm someone hoping to be a freshmen in the fall...

All dorm rooms have ethernet jacks for internet. Some halls do have wireless coverage that bleeds in from nearby academic buildings, but USC doesn't guarantee reception in any dorm.

The ethernet works fine if you're bringing a desktop and is actually faster and more secure than WiFi. Just bring a long cord or your own wireless station if you want to move you laptop around the room.

I live in Birnkrant, and I can pick up wireless internet in my room. It's not as quick as using the ethernet cable, of course. However, if I move into the study room or into one of the rooms towards the end of the hallway, I can't. And if you wanted to move around your room and you can't pick up wireless, you can always just get a longer ethernet cable, albeit it isn't as nice as moving around wirelessly.

i live in birnkrant. first semester, wireless was temperamental at best, but upon my return to usc my AirPort now detects a new network called "Birnkrant Lounge." :) its lovely.

I get so-so wireless reception in my room in Fluor Tower. I get pretty decent reception in my floor's study lounge, though and it's not bad in my suite's common area. It may not be as good on some of the higher floors though.
