Hi! Can anyone help describe alice cook house, becker, and bethe on west campus? I'm having trouble finding information and therefore deciding. Thanks a lot!! (btw i need this info fast cuz I wanna to apply for housing asap)

Uhhh. Isn't Cook, Becker, and Bethe already filled? And wasn't the deadline a few weeks ago?

Filled???

I'm a transfer

They reserved some suites for transfers during the housing lottery process. Okay, I'm living in Becker next year and we snuck into Becker and looked around a couple weeks ago + dorm tours about a month ago. I think I can help.
Basically, on the first floor/ground floors: Dining Hall (you are required to buy a house meal plan where you get unlimited in house meals and a certain number of out of house meals a semester...blah blah blah), Seminar rooms, Library study area, Big common room with piano, chairs, etc, Suites for faculties in residence, mail room/service ctr (this is what Becker has, all three of these houses are pretty similar).
Residential Area: Hall-style with mostly singles and some doubles off the hall and between 2-5 suites, in the suites there are 4 rooms, 3 singles and a double, a small common area, and I think a bathroom. Also, on some floors there is a full kitchen and some areas with tables and chairs that serve as lounges.
Hope that helps some, it's hard to find pics on the internet, that's why we snuck into it to look around!

The best options on West are obviously the three new houses. After that, it's the gothics. Now that the class of's are gone, you don't have to worry about them anymore. To be honest, they were really crappy. They were built as barracks around WWII and were supposed to disappear in the 50's. Only now have they started to build a nice West Campus like they were planning to do for a century.

Like ECEgirl said, all the houses have the basic amenities, and they also have pantries with a bit of leftover food from the dining hall, practice rooms, and air conditioning. Air conditioning!!! At least Becker South does.

why do they only reserve suites for transfers, not singles or doubles

and i thought that transfers don't get to choose which house

I think they just blocked rooms together (maybe suites, maybe just doubles and singles) so the transfers can be together. I don't think you can choose your specific house, but I think you can indicate preferences...

I'm also a Guaranteed Transfer for ILR.

So I guess Becker is the best one? And 'unlimited' meals?? How much does that meal plan cost? So at Becker, we get AC, unlimited meals, from that impression, a nice big study room, library, even a kitchen?

what about the social life? and what about alice?

I'm not sure, but Alice, Becker, and Bethe are all relatively the same.

Another GT for ILR here.

We can only stay on West?
