Hey!
Does anyone know anything about what dorms are best for freshman?
And, do most people go in blind, or with a roommate??

Thanks!

I am in Markley this year and I think it is great for freshmen. I would definitely put "Central/Hill" as your preference on your housing application because you don't want to be on North Campus. Even if you are an engineer, you will only have one class per semester on North for your freshman year. If you are in music or theater you might want to consider living on North, though. If you go in with a roommate, you get the lowest lottery number of the two of you, so you'll probably get stuck on North. Because of this, most people go in blind and it usually works out fine.

Pretty much anyplace on Central is fine, though I really liked Markley since it is almost all freshman so everyone is really outgoing and looking for new friends. It can be a little loud, but I never had any trouble studying in my room and there is even a quiet study lounge if your roommate is being loud. I am going to be living in Markley again next year in one of the triple apartments which are really nice- 2 rooms plus a bathroom. There are also some huge quads. The double rooms are the smallest doubles on campus but it has been fine for me- Markley doubles are comparable in size to doubles at other universities (11 by 12) while doubles in other dorms are a bit bigger than average.

I would be happy to answer any other questions you have! :)
