Dorms

How are rutgers dorm for an engineering student. i think dorms are at Busch campus? I need to know the bathroom arrangements lol thats deciding if i am dorming or if i am commutting. also is it possible to live in an apartment close by? as in will all apartments pretty much be booked up or really really expensive because hte neighborhood probably knows the college schedule THANK YOU!

Every commuter I’ve talked to has regretted his/her decision, very honestly. It’s a hassle to commute and it’s harder to make friends and collaborate on homework and projects.

I’ve met one girl who lives in a house with eight other people, although I’m not sure how she got that situation worked out; I guess it is possible, though.

alrite. MOST engineering students will get dorms in the BAMM area. (Barr, Allen, Mattia, Metzger) Those are the name of those dorm building. It’s basically a normal dorm building. bunch of dorms, and bathrooms. and a lounge area on each floor.

There are actually two dorms within the BAMM complex that are specifically for engineering students: Barr and Mattia. You can go to this link and look under the Busch tab for a more specific description: [Rutgers University Housing Residence Life](http://housing.rutgers.edu/ie/index.php?page=content/Common/Halls/index.php)

It’s very difficult for off-campus students to get back on-campus now…apparently they can no longer just go with a friend who has a good lottery number. They have to go on a waiting list.

As said above, most first-year engineering students live in BAMM (Barr Allen Mattia or Metzger), though you really can live in any first-year dorm on campus. In general, all dorms are the same, though BAMM has the advantage of carpeting, SLIGHTLY larger rooms, and AC. The bathrooms in BAMM are community style with about 4 shower stalls and 4 toilet stalls, and sinks. There is a lounge on every floor and a study lounge and general lounge with Pool Tables and other delights on the ground floor.

Other resident hall configurations differ, but as said they are about the same.

Off campus housing is available, but it is recommended that you live on campus your first year at least. As mentioned above, once you are off campus, its a bit hard to get on campus because a lot of spots are reserved for taking in first years and keeping people on campus that already are living on it.
