Dorms!

lol
All I say was “Founders, but im afraid the rate will be too much.” so I click the Link the I ASS-umed it was on the Link but Founders is the 12 street one on the link they just changed the name of it lol

So originally I chose Hayden LCT for my dorming preference, but I changed that to Rubin LCT earlier today.

I mean, the no a/c really wont bother me, I prefer being hot anyway (gives me incentive to go outside!). As well, it takes a lot off the cost. Since I’m ED hopefully I get it (I have no doubt that I will). :)

It’s only REALLY warm for the end of August (move-in week) and maybe some of September. It starts cooling off by October, and by Halloween night, people are freezing. Box fans are cheap and easy to get a hold of. It’ll be fine.

I am not ED, but I would like to apply for a Rubin LCT when I get my housing app.

How much is the price difference for Rubin low-cost housing? (I am definitely applying for it because of my family’s financial situation. I have “heard” (online) it’s approximately $6,500 for a triple, compared to the $13,507 listed on NYU’s “Financial Facts” sheet that I was mailed with my acceptance folder.) Can anyone confirm/deny the $6,500 figure?

Also, can you still request a particular roommate if you want low-cost housing?

when do reg decision housing come out?

and do we get it earlier if we send in our deposit earlier or it dont matter

We called NYU to ask if sending in the housing deposit earlier would help my daughter secure her first choice of housing and we were told that as long as the deposit arrived by the deadline, whether it arrived in early May or late May, it wouldn’t matter in terms of getting the dorm that she wanted. Has anyone had a different experience? Can we trust this information?

Another question is regarding a few postings I’ve seen regarding roaches and/or mice in the dorms. When this happens, do the building and grounds people take steps to remedy the problem, or do the students need to deal with it on their own?

The deadline is all they care about. It will not get you your choice dorm if you sent the deposit in early. A good way to get your choice is to go for an exploration

Regarding the rodents, my daughter has never seen any in her dorms. However the housing department is responsible.

do you list the explorations in order of preference, or do you just get assigned to the ones you applied to based on availability?

IS there anyway to increase the chances of being placed in one of your top couple dorm choices? Maybe specifically requesting a roommate who also puts that dorm as his/her first choice? anything else?

Do most people get their first choice? I REALLY want Founders but I’m afraid it will fill up too quickly.

Perhaps someone can help me out with a few questions I have about Third North.

I already know that it’s my top choice and I already filled it out in my housing form, but since I’ve never visited the school or the dorms, I still have a couple of unanswered questions.

First of all, is there any way to specifically request a two-room apartment and NOT a three-room? I couldn’t find anywhere on the housing form, but maybe there’s still something I can do.

Also, I know that apartments have a common area and kitchen and then two-person bedrooms split off from that main area. But I wonder… does each apartment share a common bathroom as well? Or does each room get its own bathroom?

Finally: While two-person rooms are obviously single-sex, I wonder, are the apartments themselves co-ed or single-sex as well? Not that this is an issue or anything, I’m just wondering if there is a chance the apartment will have one guy’s room and one girl’s room?

when did you get your housing form? I havent gotten mine yet…

If you’re asking me, jetblk, I applied Early Decision, so I got early access to the online housing form earlier this month :)

Are bathrooms shared with the entire floor with all dorms, or are there dorm rooms that each have their own bathroom for the two people to share?

Also, are there any dorms with wood floors?

Which dorms are the most social? Best parties?

Cleanest?

Biggest?

Every NYU dorm has bathrooms within the rooms. Not shared bathrooms for the floor.

All the freshman dorms have carpet except Weinstein which has primarily linoleum (unless I’m mistaken)

The party scene is argued from every angle, I’m sure it’s been covered in this thread many times over. Everyone argues their own thing.

You clean your own rooms but the hallways are kept really well by the great maintenance staff. I mean Founders Hall is the newest and probably the cleanest therefore.

I’d advise anyone interested in housing to look at the Washington Square News’ online housing guide, it’s very informative and has the thoughts of former residents: [NYU’s Daily Student Newspaper | nyunews.com](<a href=“Washington Square News”>Washington Square News)

Hey! I got my room assignment for the fall and was wondering if anyone would be able to describe the room for me if they have seen it or roomed in it or anything…I’m in the East Tower, Room 0504…Thank you in advance!

I got just assigned Weinstein. Can anyone tell me about relative room size/closet size/etc? it’s a -29 room

I’d also like information about Weinstein–room 0323A-1
