Is there any obstacle, other than time and commitment, to double majoring in Natural Sciences (premed track) and in Economics or perhaps the Business School, in say Finance? This ties to some of the other threads on whether you are stuck in the college to which you applied. Do you just do it or have to apply or something else?

we dont have a business major for undergrads

You can quadruple major if you like

Unless you major in music or architecture you dont eed to enter rice with any special requirements. beyond that you can pick what you want to take

so in short YES, you can major in Economics and Biochemistry (and premed) if you want

Except for music and architecture, you apply to the university, not the department. They do ask you to state why you’d want to be in a department on the application, but that is NONBINDING. Most people choose to write about their strengths - if they took lots of sciences, they write about why they’d want to be in the science department, etc. but it is NONBINDING, except for musi and archi - but I think you can transfer out of those department, just hard to transfer into them. Any other department, you aren’t “in” until you declare a major - usually end of sophomore year.

anxiousmom -

you can change OUT of the musi and archi program easily. i dont think you can transfer in. I know a friend who was a musi who ended up as an EE

Antarius is right, you can only minor in business, you can’t major in business.
And no you can remained undecided as to which school in Rice do you want to go to after your freshman year except music and architect. However, I think most students pick after their freshman year.

latest declaration date is week 10 sophomore year I believe. You can still change after that
