Double Major: English & Secondary Education?

Just wanted some opinions/advice on whether a double major in English & Secondary Ed. (in order to get teaching license) would be too difficult/time consuming. I'm also debating on whether I should minor in Asian Studies. I'll be attending Vanderbilt (if that makes any difference), taking a full course load, doing work-study, joining clubs, etc. Would that be too difficult to balance as a freshman?
I want to also go on to graduate school for English.

Thanks!

Yes, it’s definitely doable. A lot of schools require education majors to double major, so people do it all the time. Not sure how much time you would have for a minor, depending on how many general education requirements you have, since education majors tend to have more course requirements than other majors do (or at least they do at my school).

Okay, that’s a relief! Thanks!

*Any more comments are appreciated too :)

You just have to make sure you plan out your English requirements to finish a semester early, because you’ll likely spend your entire last semester student teaching.

yea… Education and English should be standard / no problem. You will have to see what the requirements for Asian Studies are and whether you can fit them in. Sit down with a course catalog for an hour and tentatively create a 4 year schedule, and it should be pretty clear if it is realistic or not.
