Double major, Human Ecology vs CAS, etc..

I got accepted to College of Human Ecology for Policy Analysis and Management.

I have a few questions here.

Is doing a double-major necessarily better than a single major?

If doing a double major is better, I have another question.
Although I like HumEc and PAM very much, I am considering switching to CAS, because I think it will be easier to do a double major there (probably econ + govt).
I do not wish to do a double major inside HumEc (since there is no social sciences major other than PAM), and when I thought about doing another major outside HumEc, I heard it is very hard to do so, since each college requires a lot of requirements to complete.

Will a double major in HumEc and another college be possible?
Is double major worth the trouble?

You can not double major outside of HumEc, but you can concentrate in various subjects like law and society, ethics and public life, inequality studies, and international relations.

Keep in mind that employers and graduate schools often don’t care about whether or not you technically ‘majored’ in one subject or another – they care about whether or not you took certain courses. I took a bunch of upper level math and bio courses, even though I was in ILR. Grad schools can appreciate this.

If you are in-state, I do not think that transferring to CAS would be worth it. HumEc can offer you a lot of flexibility both within PAM and in your free electives.

thanks. so it’s not major that’s important, but the subjects…
