I am really interested in double majoring/pursing in computer science and film productions. Could someone please give me advice/insights/thoughts on whether I should pursue such path? I know that a degree in computer science would probably secure me a job in the future, but I wasn’t so sure if I should spend time/effort in pusuing a degree in film productions since( (1) the film industry is pretty competitive and (2) I don’t really have much experience in film. I am also worried about whether a double major in those two areas would burden me financially.
Hm, I think you’ll be a bit lost when you take u p these two majors. Because I believe they are from “different continents in the globe” lol. If it is really a job you are concerned about then it is best to take Comp sci.
For what it’s worth my nephew is a Sr @ Skidmore with a double major in Drama & Computer Science. He wants to pursue acting but has a knack for computers so studied CS as a ‘Plan B’.
I couldn’t disagree more. Filmmaking is becoming more and more of a computer-assisted endeavor. And those who can not just USE the tools, but IMPROVE on them will reign.
@digmedia My thoughts exactly. I would think that distinguishing factors between schools with Film Production majors or minors would be how much up to date computer animation and equipment is used. I’m curious to know what the stronger colleges are for kids interested in the more technical nature of film production (animation, editing, etc…)
