I go to Michigan and I was wondering what you guys thought about this.. I have declared Computer Science as my major but I noticed that I have the option to take around 30+ credits as electives. Would it be a good idea to just take a bunch of Aerospace classes as my technical electives and then stay another year to get a double major in CompSci and AeroE? I'm trying to get picked up by an Air National Guard unit to be a pilot after college before I go off to work a normal career. If it matters, I'm in a fraternity and currently hold a pilot's license and a 3.5+ GPA.

You can if you want, but… I would say yes IFF you are interested in Aerospace and Computer Science equally. It won’t be easy, and it may not be useful careerwise, and it may not get you into graduate school or get you a better job.

But if you want to study aerospace engineering as well as computer science for personal reasons, academic interest, etc., go for it. I’m CS/Physics (arguably comparable to CS/Aerospace) and it’s doable and I love it. I don’t have any delusions about it being the best move career-wise, but I’m not too worried about all that.

I don’t think that’s a bad move at all… your dbl majoring in two intensive fields. You will have the background knowledge in both fields, and can always switch your career field to CS or Physics. Then again, I’m a High School senior, so I don’t know know if I’m correct on this matter.
