I was thinking of majoring in Econ and Commerce. How is the workload such a double major? I will most probably get exempted from the Foreign language requirement as i am an Indian and am very fluent in Hindi and Bengali.

It all depends on how many area requirements you will have completed upon matriculating into UVa this Fall. Many students use Economics as their backup major if they do not get into McIntire and then drop it all together. S1 is in the Commerce School and continuing on with his economics major. You have to plan out the two together. There are overlaps which helps but if you have a lot of area requirements to complete then it is difficult mainly because of the workload and not availability in your schedule unless you take courses over the summer/jterm.

It is doable.

Ok, I have a question regarding the Math courses offered there. I am Indian, and consider myself competent at Math. I have had a one year exposure to Calculus and am confused between the Math 1210 and 1310. I am planning to take Commerce or Economics as a major. I have done the basics of Calc in Differentiation(Maxima-Minima, Increasing-Decreasing Functions, Double Differentiation, etc) and Integration(Curve Sketching, Area Under Curves,Etc).

Any Suggestions on what i should do?

You have been discussing this on another thread. The only thing I will add is the Comm school looks at rigor but keep in mind that GPA is one of the main admissions criteria.
