How would I approach a situation where I want to major in economics from the College, yet still want to receive a major from Wharton? Supposing that I apply into the College, could I apply or request for a separate major from Wharton?

This is what is called “Dual-degree” (since you’re getting a degree from two different schools within Penn, as opposed to double-major, which is two majors within the same school) If you were to apply and get into the College, then I believe during your freshman year you would need to take certain pre-req courses (econ, math, and a few others) and then apply for a dual degree, with your second degree being in Wharton.

See here for more information: [Policies Governing Dual Degree](http://www.college.upenn.edu/degree/dual_policies.php)

If you go to Penn as a College student, you will have to apply to “transfer” internally to Wharton later on (which is not an easy feat).

no u will not have to’transfer’. u will just become a dual degree student from both CAS and wharton just speak to ur academic advisors regarding ur first year courseload so that ull be able to take a few wharton related classes. CDN’s post is very helpful.

indeed it’s not a transfer, but the dual degree process for students outside of wharton applying for wharton degrees is the same as the internal transfer process
