I am junior who is very interested in attending Columbia. Although I know that it is extremely difficult to gain acceptance, I have been advised by college counselor to target Ivy League Schools. I am deffinietly considering applying to Columbia ED; however, I am nervous about a student's ability to double major. Although the core is one of my main attractions to Columbia, I am worried that it may be difficult to double major, is this the case? I can only find very vague information of the website...My ideal double major would be in Econ-Poli Sci and history, but I would also like to leave some room to continue learning spanish. Is this possible? How many classes does the normal student take a semester. Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

It’s possible, but few students do it. It would be more common to have a major and a concentration (Columbia’s version of a minor).

Think about it. You need 124 points to graduate. Core (assuming no exemptions) is 60 points. Poli Sci and history majors are 29 points each. So that leaves you room for 6 points. However, don’t overthink this until you actually get accepted.

Average course load is 4-5 classes or about 16 points.
