Hey guys. So i got into UCLA with math/econ. Is there any way for me to change it and end up double majoring with a major BS from math department and economics major from econ department???

Can you do it? Probably.
Is it worthwhile? Probably not.

have you guys heard of anyone doing it? specifically econ…

Doing what? Majoring in math and econ. Yes I’ve heard it being done. But you can’t overlap more than 5 classes I believe, so you can’t do the Applied Math - Actuary plan or anything like that w/ econ.

I don’t think you can double major in the same department.

Math and Econ are two different departments

I was a math econ major. I thought about doing this, but when I spoke to someone, it became clear that it would be too hard because like binks said, 5 classes overlap can easily overlap. The math/econ program exists for a reason and it’s just as prestigious per se.

One thing I will say is that I finished the major way too early. It’s very short.

That’s what the math-econ major is for
