Double major

Is it possible to double major in molecular/cell biology and music at Yale? Is it pretty much impossible? Is anyone currently doing it?

I doubt any1 on CC is doing it, but I’m sure there’s someone.

Yes, it is possible to double major in those areas. Double majoring across almost any two subjects, even the most difficult majors, is possible in theory; the tradeoff becomes how many random cool Yale courses outside those areas you are willing to give up. MDCB and Music are not particularly difficult majors and don’t have prereqs, so they are almost certainly doable.

It is always possible, of course to take lots of courses and not major: the marginal value of getting an “official” 2nd degree at Yale vs getting 1 degree does little for you anyway. But that’s another story…

how bout double major in physics and math :p

yeah you can. but you’ll be wfriting 2 senior theses :)

is there a site that lists the number of people who’ve double majored, and in which majors, specifically? I heard there were some doing music + biology, but how bout, lets say…math and int’l relations or someting?

re: “MDCB and Music are not particularly difficult majors and don’t have prereqs.”

MDCB and Music may not be particularly difficult majors. But both majors have many prereqs. Also, although cell biology (a course) is not really a prereq (more like a core requirement), it is by no means “easy.”
