<p>So Im gonna be a freshman undergraduate student at UF soon and was wondering If I can double major in Pre-Medicine and Business Administration. I was planning on doing just pre-medicine until I realized that my employer will pay for my tuition if I major in a specific area they desire(Business). Do you think it is possible for me to do so? Also will the work load increase significantly? </p>

<p>Pre-med is not a major; it is just a path to follow for Med school.</p>
<p>Yeah, you would have to be on the pre-med track if you want to apply to med school, but you can major in anything you want. It will be a little bit more work since there probably isn’t much overlap between courses needed for pre-med and for a business major. That’s why most pre-med students major in a science. But I’d say you should do it as long as you think you can keep your GPA up.</p>
<p>yea sorry I meant majoring in a pre med subject like Bio-medical science in order to have a better understanding of MCAT. Along with that I was considering a second major. Business was my first guess but I think it might be too overwhelming. Here is the list of majors I can take to get the Tuition reimbursement:

<p>As long as you complete the pre-med courses, you can major in anything and med schools will NOT look down on you if you choose not to major in a science. I wouldn’t double major unless you are really interested in both subjects.</p>
<p>I would choose computer engineering out of those choices. It’s useful and hopefully the upper level math classes will overlap</p>
<p>The Master, do you happen to work at publix by any chance? I work there and was thinking about doing the tuition reimbursement at UF also, but I’m not sure if I would have to transfer stores. I am majoring in marketing but wanna double major in public relations. do you wanna double major only because they will pay for most of the tuition or are you genuinely interested in business? its more work, more time plus more books you have to spend money on. And (if it is publix that you work for) they only pay less than half of the tuition a year and you have to work a minimum of 10 hours every week. if you think its worth it than go for it…i’m still trying to decide</p>
<p>Yea I do work at publix. My main reason for double major was in fact that they would pay for some of the tuition ($2,250 per year to be exact). I actually am genuninely interested in business as that would be my fallback career. But now I’m considering the suggestion of the people here, to follow the premed track but major in one of the courses allowed by publix</p>
<p>As for your situation NormaM your first major of marketing is one of the majors listed for tution reimbursement so I don’t think you need to double major anyway. All you have to do is transfer to gainesville and work 10 hours(which is like 2 days a week)</p>
<p>Gatorgirl, Pre-pharmacy is a major. People usually call it Pre-pharmacy, but the name in the majors list is Pharmacy-Preprofessional. It’s a two-year curriculum leading up to Pharmacy school or a PharmD degree, which is a Doctorate degree. It’s a 6 year degree - 2 years preprofessional and 4 professional.</p>

<p>yeah i know i don’t need to double major but i want to be a publicist and marketing and public relations work hand in hand together. i’m just not sure if i want to transfer cause is it possible to work in gainsville and then go to my home publix and work during breaks? plus I might have to do a work-study but who knows, maybe we’ll end up as co-workers</p>
<p>Im now considering not double majoring and just majoring in Bio-medical science because it will help me a lot with my science pre reqs plus more for med school. I guess I won’t be getting tuition reimbursement after all…</p>
<p>@NormaM I know a guy who goes to FSU and works at the publix near there. During the summer he comes to my store and works until the end of summer, so yea it is possible. BTW he was a stock clerk.</p>
<p>Hate to break this to you, but bio-medical science is not a major either.
Pre-Pharmacy is a major, but you can’t get a bachelor’s degree in it (only an AA) so this wouldn’t be a good choice for medical school (which requires a BS/BA). </p>

<p>You could do biology, biochemistry, health science, microbiology, etc.</p>
<p>Major in Economics but go Pre-Med; that is what I am doing. It really isn’t that big of deal if you fulfill all the prerequisites, obtain a high GPA, and have good MCAT scores.</p>
<p>Med Schools are looking for diversity. People often major in Chemistry then go to Med School because it is simply easier.</p>
