Right now i was accepted to the Econ program in CAS but i would like to double major in finance. In BU are they considered a major and a minor or two bachelor degrees?

It depends what you want to do.

If you double major, you would get two degrees with one in Economics and one in Finance. You need to realize that Finance is in the School of Management while Economics is in the College of Arts & Sciences. If you wanted to double major, you would have to do what we call BUCOP. It’s more complicated since you must complete requirements for both SMG & CAS and then all the core courses for each major. It’s still possible, especially if you have lots of AP credits to get you out of some requirements.

Minoring would probably be easier since it would take less courses but you’d still have to take a few SMG/CAS courses. I don’t think you need to do all the requirements for the secondary school (ie. SMG if you were an Econ major) but I’m uncertain. You’ll get an advisor who could help you with the planning.

Yeah, same here. I’ve been considering (read: am going to) a double major of econ (I am CAS Econ) and either Finance or International relations.

What’s the difference between dual degree or double major program? Which do you think would be better i.e. less hellish
And would coming in with around 40ish credits thanks to APs affect which I path to follow?
