About double majoring

is it hard to double major in art(visual art) and business?
what if i want to do a double major?
do i need to wait till junior year? or should i just call them…
hows gonna work…
someone knows?

that's a pretty weird combination, but you can pretty much do anything you want as long as you're willing to complaete all the courses. What school are you in? CFA or SMG? That matters, too.

CFA....why is that matter?

What you're actually looking to do is receive dual degrees, not a dual major, which requires being enrolled in two schools. It's not hard to do--you pretty much just have to meet with an advisor from each school and write an essay and be accepted into BUCOP (BU Collaborative Degree program). You cannot officially apply until sophomore year, but you need to start talking to an advisor sooner than later, as you'll need to start taking SMG classes right away (which you'll need special permission to do) or else you'll never graduate in time.

I would recommend getting to know SMG a bit more, though. A lot of people who BUCOP with SMG as their secondary school are a bit taken aback once they start taking SMG courses, as they didn't realize the commitment involved. Some think that it's like most business programs--where you sit in a classroom and listen to someone talk about managment theory--but it's far from that. SMG requires A LOT of time and commitment and I urge you to think this through and make sure it's something you want to do, especially if your primary interests are in the fine arts.

Other than that, it is doable. I and many other people have BUCOPed with SMG and lived.

thank you so much!!! by the way, my major is graphic design. and i remember i wrote down something minor in business(or marketing?) on app...

BU does not offer a minor in marketing. You can get a minor in business through CAS (though the classes are taken in SMG).
