Double majoring between WCAS and SoC

I was initially planning on majoring in psychology in WCAS since I want to enter the field of Autism as a career...however, I have been in touch with someone from the psych department and she recommended looking into the communication sciences + disorders department in SoC. The communication sciences + disorders department really fits what I want to do, but I still am planning on majoring in psychology.
How hard is it to double major between WCAS and SoC? and if I apply to WCAS and get in, will it be hard to get into SoC as a double major? The lady from the psych department told me most people that double major between these two schools usually apply to SoC, then add WCAS once they're accepted, but if my chances at getting into SoC for the Human Communication Sciences major in the communication sciences + disorders department will be much lower, then I might want to apply to WCAS initially and try adding SoC.
Any help's appreciated!

By the way, I'm applying ED if that makes a difference

Okay I want to do the SAME THING!!! (except not psych and communications disorders, something else)

anyway, when i visited i got the impression from the admissions people that is really easy to double major between the two schools. the only thing is, you have to be in the SoC to do the double major.

but again, they said that was a non issue as well. the communications disorders major doesnt get filled up like every, so switching into it and then doing an ad hoc major with WCAS isn’t a big deal.

it may help you to apply to communications disorders b/c fewer people apply to that, but i dont really know about that…

hope this helps and good luck!!!

thank you so much!
so i’d have to apply to SoC, then apply to Weinberg if I got in? I’m not allowed to do it vice-versa, right? Did they say anything about the selectivity of SoC compared to Weinberg? Also, do you know if it’s a pretty much guaranteed admit to Weinberg if you’re in another school? Thanks a lot! Good luck to you too!

I was a double major at Northwestern (SESP + WCAS majors). I was registered under SESP. I never had to apply to Weinberg to do the double major. Just submit paperwork that you’re planning to do another major major. The extra courses will count as electives under your SoC plan.

thank you very much! i think i’ll do that

yeah what tenisghs said was right. once you’re in SoC, you can just say you want to do a double major in WCAS.

if you want to start in WCAS, you can. and then switching in SoC is no big deal at all. at least that’s what they told me.

Good luck!!!

since i’ll have to transfer to SoC anyways, i think i’ll just apply there first…it shouldn’t affect my chances of admission too much hopefully…thanks collegefreak!
