I'm currently in Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, and I have a couple questions on double majoring across two schools.

First of all, can I, for example, major in Communication Studies and Economics if my original school was WCAS? Or will I have to transfer into the school of Communications first. I've heard different things on this, and I want to just know for sure.

Second, is double majoring across two schools a common occurence? If someone chooses to do this, is it relatively easy to get it all done in four years? After all, I'm sure a major in Communication Studies and a major in Economics have a lot of different course requirements...

Thanks for the help!

Few of my friends did econ + engineering and finished them in 4 years.

You almost always have to be in the non-Weinberg school; at least I am pretty confident this is true for Comm Studies.

Second, a ton of people double major and the quarter system makes it possible to get everything done. Might have to take some rough quarters but if you're sure about it, it's not that big a deal.

Thanks for the answers, I'm wondering though, is there anybody that has personally majored in Comm Studies + a WCAS major lik econ? Or at least something related, and can speak from personal experience? How hard/easy is it to get this done in four years?

My roomate is Radio/TV/Film and econ double major. It's easy to do, especially with the quarter system letting you take 12 courses per year instead of the usual 10. To further ensure that you also can take a few courses that you want to take that don't pertain to either major, you can get a Bachelor of Science, not a Bachelor of Arts in Econ. This way you don't have to obey Weinberg's distribution requirements, only Comm's.
