Someone mentioned her daughter is at u of Arizona and is double majoring, non science second major. Anyone else with feasibility of this at any dance school? When you look at BA dance degree to double major, it eliminates many BFA dance schools thus this question.thanks
It is my D that is at UA double majoring. She entered school with about 21 units already from AP classes. At UA, you can test out of classes, so she tested out of two semesters of Spanish and college algebra. Essentially, she was a sophomore when she arrived. She took one class last summer and two this summer (all on-line) and takes some classes on-line at the junior college near UA during the school year (her two remaining semesters of Spanish). Last semester, she took 26 units (and got all As) and has not taken less than 23 units each semester. So yes, it’s possible, but it’s a lot of work. And, through all of this, her dancing has not suffered. Most of her units are from her dance classes… she takes a bunch. She was in two faculty dances and was an understudy for two more. Plus she choreographed a duet that was in the student showcase in the fall and another that was not selected (but still a great experience to choreograph) in the spring. And, she was in three student pieces, two of which were in the showcase in the spring. She’s a busy girl. But she is loving it there and has made tremendous growth as a dancer… that is why she really wanted my younger daughter to join her there (which she has decided to do) because she thinks it is the best possible place for dance and for academics. She will graduate with a BFA (dance), a BA (communications), and a minor (business). She could have graduated in three years with her BFA in dance, but because she received a large, four-year academic scholarship, she decided to go all four years and get two degrees. Plus she loves it there and didn’t think three years was enough! Hope this helps.
Much thanks for your thorough response!
