double majoring

should i double major in MCB and psych?
i'm pre-med and a freshman.

Just wondering, do you actually like MCB or are you following the bandwagon?

Med schools don't give a flying **** about your major, and MCB is amongst the hardest L&S majors and is the hardest biology major. Med schools weigh your GPA very highly as a criterion for admission and MCB kills GPAs. So if you don't like MCB in general, get the **** out of it.

As for the psych double, I know IB/Psych a very frequent combo and that it works very well. I don't think there is any overlap between psych and MCB.

no i actually like MCB. plus i've already done most of the psych requirements with my AP scores. should i still go for it? or just not do psych and study my ass off for MCATs?

both majors are doable together even without APs. It is just going to be more stressing relative to other B.A./B.A. doubles because of MCB. I don't think there is going to be any upper division overlap, but you will have plenty of lower div overlap

There is absolutely no point of double majoring for a premed unless he or she is gung-ho about that particular subject. Get out of the mentality that double majoring is cool, because 99.999% of people don't give a shyte.

Btw, double majoring within the same college only gives you one degree (a B.A. in L&S, a B.S. in COE.). It's just, that single degree will state a double major. Simultaneous degree option, will give you two degrees (a BA/BS, or BS/BS) when you "double major" across two different colleges.

Why do you want to double major?

I would just say to go with psychology, which will let you get the required classes in for med school, but the overall courseload is not as difficult as MCB is...so if you are shooting for a high GPA [which you should be] you should take the 'easier' route and do psych and still take the required classes for med school...just my opinion though
