psychology + pre-med

im planning on doing the above major, any ideas? is it hard? any comments on the faculty? thanks in advance!

yay - that’s me too! (psych/premed)… Yeah most of my psych teachers have been great so far, take the time to ask questions and get to know them in office hours or however, some are doing some pretty interesting research work! So I can’t really comment on how it’ll be down the road since I’m still a first year, but so far psych classes and science course work go along pretty well and keeps you some what sane. take courses you know you’re interested in, not just to fulfill a certain criteria, and yeah - it shouldn’t be too bad! :)

It’s easier to do Integrative Biology and premed than Psychology and premed.

Per thecampusbuddy.com,
IB average GPA: 3.34
Psychology average GPA: 3.33

Then again, psychology probably has more interesting material.

So one should chose one major over the other because of a .01 GPA difference?

what leftist just said is very true, and that’s why I’m considering double majoring in psych and ib too… there’s actually a couple classes that count for both psych and ib major, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea… but yeah, depends on what you’re more interested in, psych is all about the mind, brain, behavior, and it seems like everything we learn applies to our lives… so even though ib would be easier since you’ll be fulfilling those requirements for premed anyway, you should decide by what you enjoy learning about. k good luck!

IB is definitely harder than psych. Its not just the avg. GPA, its also the # of premeds (larger in IB) and the quality of the students (probably higher in the sciences).

What about biochem and molecular biology compared to those?

do most MCB classes overlap with premed requirements like IB does??

^
wait what does departamental average gpa mean? the average grade the they give out? or the average gpa the students have in mcb major?

man i rofl every time leftists pastes those gpa stats.

btw, how does campusbuddy even get those stats? and they’re even not that realiable since its no where near complete… i’m assuming the gpa can vary +/-0.1 or even 0.2

Any particular reason why MCB is so much lower? Okay like more specifically other than its “hard”?

So would public health be a good premed major?
