Hi, i'm a long time reader first time poster. I'm trying to decide about my major. Right now i'm considering eco/business. But i'm also interested in astrophysics and MCB. I wanted to know a little about double major to keep the option open. Is it possible to double major between any of the four choices. Someone told me i can't double major in business and eco. Are there like particular majors where i can't do a double? and also it double majoring very difficult? how common is it? help please.

Of course, even getting a single major degree is difficult, but double majoring is not uncommon. I’ve heard of all sorts of combinations, including biochemistry and econ, math and physics, math and italian studies, etc.

One important restriction is that “No more than 2 upper division courses may be counted to complete requirements for both majors,” so that may be why you can’t double in both business and econ.
I actually know quite a few people who are double majoring in econ and business. In fact, I’ve met people who are double majoring in econ/mcb and business/mcb as well. So I would say that most of these double majors are doable.

However, the biggest issue is planning and difficulty. If you plan on double majoring, its pretty important to plan far in advance to avoid conflicts and ensure you can fulfill all your reqs on time. Also, academically, it will be much more vigorous. But if you are really interested in two different fields of study, it may be worth it.

^^is right. You’re going to have to make a plan early to double major in things you suggest. If you want to do (econ or business) + (mcb or astrophysics) you’re going to have to pick one, mcb or astrophysics, early on. There just isn’t time to keep them all in the air at once.
