Double vs triple?

What some pros and cons for living in a double vs triple occupancy?

I have lived in both a triple and a double room. My freshman year I was placed into a triple room with one girl I had met through my college’s Facebook page and the other girl was random. Surprisingly we all got along very well. The room was definitely made for three people meaning it was a good size and its not like they took a double and put another bed in the room. Oddly enough I became better friends with the random roommate when the girl I met online turned out to be very clingy and needy. If you choose a triple make sure you figure out storage issues first. In our triple, we bought a shelf that we placed all our food on it and it helped free up space in other places. I highly recommend lifting your bed up to add more storage. I think the pros are that you (hopefully) get a bigger space in a triple room. But you do have to deal with two other people and their schedules, personalities, etc.
Now, when I got placed in a double I hated it. I think it mainly had to do with the person I was placed with. She was terrible. The room was smaller so I stored many of my things under my bed.
I honestly think it depends on the people in the room with you. Learning how to cope with another person can be tricky but it is a good skill to learn. It is tricky living situations have positive and negative aspects.

Pros of a double over a triple: one less body = less conflict, less mess, less stuff.
Cons of a double over a triple: more expensive.

Also, if your “triple” is really a double room with an extra person stuffed in, it will suck even more.
