Dower House?

I just found out this is where my daughter will be living. Had to wait all day to find out, and this is the one day of the week she works until 9:30 p.m.!

Anyway, she's very excited about living in a small dorm, even though it seems to be far from everything. Anyone know anything about this house? In particular, what size throw rug should she buy? Apparently, her roommate is getting the fridge so she's in charge of the rug.

People I know in Dower love it!! It’s a small dorm so everyone knows everyone. It’s close to the new dorms (Freeman, Bates, McAfee) so your D will be eating in Bates all the time. It’s also across the street from the admissions office if she wants to be a campus tour guide or volunteer/work there in some capacity.

Room sizes from what I’ve seen are pretty nice, lots of closet space too (for a dorm room). I think standard rug is 3x5 but you could go bigger if you wanted to…depends if you want wall to wall carpeting or more of an area rug. A lot of people I know waited to see the set up of the room before buying a rug. There are lots of shops within close driving distance to Wellesley for those purchases…shoppers world in Framingham and the Natick Mall in Natick (largest mall in New England)

Thanks so much! This dorm sounds ideal for her. Glad to hear there is a lot of closet space. I’ll advise her to wait on the rug. She knows the shopping areas well, as she grew up in Sherborn, so if she and her roommate find that they really want a rug, the can head to Bed Bath and Beyond or Target.

Hello! I will be living in Dower myself next year. I will be around during orientation, so please stop by if you need help with anything or want to just say hi!

It’s very small but has a wonderful community. The rooms are quite big, as most are suites (two doubles with a common room in between). It’s true that it’s a bit distant from some places on campus, but it’s not inconveniently far away from the academic quad and it’s quite close to the science center.
