I was just wondering how much a downward trend in GPA will hurt (4.0 fresh and soph, 3.7 junior). I don't really have much of an excuse except that I started an EC that takes up ALOT of my time. I always took the hardest classes offered... Thanks

3.7 UW right? That shouldn't hurt you too bad, althought if you got a 3.7 and then 4.0, it would have been better. If that is 3.7 Weighted, .... um.. that's really not good, in general.

Yeah that was unweighted...

it's okay. class rigor is harder hopefully. therefore a lower grade. and make sure you're EC's are good. 4.0 + 4.0 + 3.7/3 = 3.9 UW still. you're all good

I was in a similiar situation last year. Frosh/soph = 4.0, junior year = 2 x Bs per semester (4 the whole year). I ended up with a 3.87UW at the end of the year. I was admitted to USC, NYU, and UCLA with that (downward) gpa and 1940/680/650.

Junior year will hurt a little because it's the most important year. Still, they mainly take a look at your overall GPA and don't care much about "upward" or "downward" trends.
