If I got all A's and A-'s my freshman and sophomore years, but then all A-'s and one B+ my junior year, would colleges believe i demonstrated a downward trend in grades if i earned all A's my senior year?

Not at all. The one B+ isn’t going to stop you from getting accepted into any top schools. Anyways, for most schools a A- simply translates to an A, so you’re fine.

It would matter where that performance leaves you ranking in your class. If yours is a school where 10% get all As, it hurts. If you go to a school where no one has gotten all As in decades, it won’t.

Even if your school uses plus minus I don’t really think it matters.
