I am taking ap physics c,bc,comp sci,Lang, chem,& gov this year. I have an A in everything except chem which I have a B in and gov a C+. My gpa is still very high a 4.3 but my grades in these two classes are concerning me. How does this effect my chances at competitive schools.

If you already sent in your apps with only your first semester/trimester scores or even just your grades as of your junior year, I don’t THINK it should hurt you. (once you’re admitted, they only really care if you get D and F grades, I’ve heard. Or all Cs when you’ve been maintaining As. Since you have just 1 C, it won’t be that big of a deal)

But if you haven’t applied yet, I’d do it ASAP while you still have the good grades from your previous terms. Again, I’m not entirely sure, but I don’t think it matters until it’s official and done.

Good luck.

My 1st sem just finished so the mid year report hasn’t been sent yet. Luckily the C is in ap gov and I’m going into computer engineering. But I know it’s not ideal.

Obviously it will pull your grades down. As to how top colleges will weight that against the very strong curriculum you’re taking, we have no way of knowing.

I’ve been worried about this too. I got straight A’s first quarter but I’m nervous about my grades for second quarter. I was already accepted to schools so I’m trying to keep my grades up but I have to deal with the stresses of financial aid and it’s hard. I think that because your GPA is still very high you’ll be fine.

The rigor did take its toll and it became very difficult to focus on all of them as well as college apps. Its unfortunate that there isnt more time.
