Hey,
I would appreciate some input here about whether I am in big trouble or not.
Basically since freshman year, I got all As.
Sophomore Year: Two A-s and rest As----I doubled in Biology AND Chemistry
JUNIOR YEAR I got B+ in a semester long English class and AP Bio, A- in English class
and finally, B in Precalculus (H)
All As in rest of classes included AP Psychology and AP Spanish
Iâm not gonna lie, this year was really stressful and I fear colleges will reject me because of this âdownwardâ trend. ON the other hand, if I took harder classes as the years progressed (from all honors, to honors and two science classes in one year and 3 APs Junior Year) will that make up for it?
I am taking AP Physics, AP Calc AB, AP Stats next year for Senior Year APs BTWâŠ
My first choice is Wellesley, others are Mount Holyoke, Boston College, Scripps, Tufts, Johns HopkinsâŠ
Please just tell me if Iâm in huge troubleâŠOh yeah I AM a girl, South Asian, and involved in a bunch of clubs and volunteeringâŠin case you were wondering about the womens colleges
THANK YOU
please stop complaining about 3 Bâs. I dont know if your trying to show off or what but seriously i hate it when people â â â â â like this
Are u kidding! Iâm a parent and it is amazing to me that so many of kids today have bought the AP must have 4.5+ gpa perfect SAT scores hype! College success can be had wherever you go if you recognize your own talents and skills. Believe me once you are out of school, employers really donât care about your GPA - they DO care about your ability to solve problems and be committed to doing an excellent job. BTW - the school you attend is not guarantee that you will have the perfect job and big salaries. College is a business and if pushing the âweâre so selective your lucky to come hereâ is bought by people like you who are willing to go deep into debt to get it - they will take advantage of it. You are not your grades, youâre more than that.
chocolatecricket, thatâs what my mother said!! my school is ridiculously competitive and literally, i had a downward trend and i donât mean to show off or anything, but itâs cutthroat and they just like look at Bs like its a sham, a downward trend is a downward trend. i do a lot of stuff but really donât do big time sports, act, play the sax/violin/pianoâŠso im worried that colleges might questions why the drop, no matter in what magnitude; like from As to Bs or Cs to Ds and Ds to Fs.
abstracts-thanks and i agree with you. i really wish everyone followed that philosophy. these schools are wicked competitive and everyone is telling me theyâre reaches for me and i somewhat agree with them/wish it wasnât that hard.
i am looking for a college that has a community that will accept me for being different and not a conformist but also i have this pressure from folks/classmates at home who anticipate that i go to a prestigious school and when all these things collide my head begins to hurtâŠI want fulfillment in life and know that there are kids at ivy leagues who are miserable and thousands of dollars in debtâŠcombined with a million other incomplete dreams.
Boy, this college business really takes a toll on your mental health. i wish it didnât have to
No, youâre not in trouble. Whatever your GPA is when you send it off to colleges, it wonât be the same GPA that they look at anyway. They unweight, recalculate, etc. Plus, youâre taking really hard classes and doing really well. Colleges want to see that youâre challenging yourself. Just write a hell of an essay and work your butt of for your first semester grades senior year. Good luck!
thanks Johnnys1stMate that was very uplifting. I will try to do well Senior year. hopefully Iâll end up where I am happy
