Dream school

My girls’ dream college is Georgetown. She is currently a junior. Should she send a pre-admission letter to them, of her desire to join them or of her accomplishments? Is there anything she can do now to stand herself out or set the stage for her admission packet? Any thoughts? Thankx

  1. I doubt a pre-admission letter would matter.
  2. There may be a summer program she could do that they might like, but I have no idea.

Any student apply to high-end schools should take an SAT and/or ACT junior year. Then she can study over the summer if needed to improve one to retake senior year.

She should also start preparing for her SAT 2s now as Georgetown require 3 of them (which is mostly unheard of). You can take 3 at one sitting, but I recommend no more than two at a time so your student can study for them well ahead of time (one at a time is ideal). In particular, if she has an AP/IB class this year that is related to a SAT 2, take it in May or June and preparing for the AP/IB exam will help her be ready for the SAT 2 test as well. Their web site lists based on academic focus which SAT 2 tests to ideally take.

Adcoms are extremely busy. Pre-admission letter not recommended. I think grades and scores get you considered. Your essays get you noticed. Make sure her grades and scores are stellar, then have her work with a tutor on essay writing. You can find one very cheap on a site like upwork.com.
