Interventional radiology.

The education is pretty much the same everywhere. I think the biggest difference b/w a "top" med school and a mid or low tier med school is the research environment and the attitudes of the faculty and students towards research. For example, my research project this summer will require the reading of approx. 200 ultrasound and MR images. My mentor has already said that 3 or 4 radiologists in the department (in addition to him) have expressed interest in reading those images for me. At a school or hospital that is more clinically-oriented, it would probably be more difficult to convince a radiologist to read films for you for free.

So back to the weather . . . We're coming off an Arctic blast here in GA that has dropped the temperatures into the teens, but when it gets that cold down here it's usually accompanied by sun with brilliant azure blue skies. Despite the cold, the vividness of the sky is really a mood-lifter. Is a sunny, cold winter day in Ithaca a rarity?

There are definitely a fair number of days like what you describe. Maybe 20-25 percent of the time. Unfortunately the Great Lakes have a tendency to kick up clouds during the winter. That said, Ithaca might compare favorably to Seattle.

Speaking of sunny, cold winter days, there's one in Ithaca right now.

With the exception of Inauguration Day (pleasant flurries), and maybe one other day, it seems like most days this semester (lol, started the 19th...perhaps using semester to suggest a period of time is misleading) have been sunny! (but with pretty snow all over!)

Coming from FL there is nothing pleasant about winters here, but it is definitely manageable. I originally thought it would be worse than it was. I think Libe Slope bothers be about as much as the cold.

The cold can be quite exhilarating. As can be Libe Slope. You might actually one day miss taking such an inspired walk to class.

Then again, one day you might be happy you don't have to walk from South Baker to Rockefeller every morning.

It is definitely cold and dreary in the winter. It's basically overcast from Nov-March. So, if you're a person like me who has never even been farther north than Maryland before going to Cornell, it will definitely take some getting used to. As long as it's not snowing sideways, which seems to be it's favorite direction, you'll be fine with a nice big coat.

i just bought a new jacket and gloves...landsend.com is having overstock sale :D
