Dressing in College?

Hey guys,

I need to move away from my graphic tees of high school and purchase some classier t-shirts for college. I don't want to spend a lot of money at J. Crew. Any suggestions for places that sell affordable, well-constructed, simple, and stylish tees? Thanks!

I replied to your thread on the Parents Forum, but if you don’t see it, here it is:

Also consider polos and khakis. They really go a long way and help you look respectable in college, much more so than tees.

Inexpensive plain T-shirts can be found in lots of places, including such places as Wal Mart, Target, sporting goods stores, etc…

First off, good for you for wanting to dress better! I always say that I want to start doing so, but then those sweats always come back out… Bad habit to form!!

I know that Kohl’s normally has a good selection of a bit classier clothing. I bought a nice pair of brown jeans that look a bit dressier along with some sweaters that were on sale. I still wear jeans and sweatshirts way too often, but I do have some options to go with. Kohl’s can be a bit expensive sometimes, but if you find their deals, have a coupon, and maybe even have some Kohl’s Cash, you can actually end up with a decent enough discount.

In general, I don’t think most people really care what you wear, but definitely go with simpler-designed Ts and maybe some darker jeans, black pants, or khakis. But if you’re tired or lost in the frenzy of midterms or finals, it’s definitely okay to dress comfortably

Good luck!
