Can anyone tell me how generous Drew U is with financial aid? I was recently accepted and they gave me a nice merit scholarship. I've heard good things about their FA, but would like some more insight.

The Drew FA package came today. I think the FA package is pretty good. S got a grant on top of the merit aid. What I am not sure about is the cost of the computer Drew requires students to buy. It must have been factored in, but the particular Lenovo computer is sold by Drew for about $1600 (+$100 for the programs specific to Drew’s curriculum.) The computer price is far less on internet websites. The Drew price does not make sense to me.
Consider whether and by how much your EFC may change while you are in school. Drew s not inexpensive. My S’s EFC will change and I plan to ask how the grant amount is likely to change. The merit aid should stay the same.

merlin, that is very smart advice. When my son went, we had to buy the computer and it wasn’t cheap, but he will have it when he leaves and they did any updates/repair for free. Since they offered my daughter the Baldwin’s Scholarship, she gets the computer free, but has to keep a 3.5 which in her intended Bio major, might be hard at times.
I found when my son went, his package (as my daughter’s) very generous, but we lost the grant by the time he left…my daughter has the same grant amount now. The difference is I have 2 in college and with my son, he was the only one. The do lessen the grant if you make more, we did make 10.000 more before he was a senior but I noticed the increments as we went along. I know to ask questions now, just know what you will experience under certain circumstances.
If my son was able to get the grant/scholarship as one big scholarship, it would have been an easier ride, but they were very generous for their size and these economic times.

Drew is the most expensive college in NJ. My son did get a scholarship, but I thought it was quite low when compared to the cost of their tuition. So, I was not impressed.

Also, when considering the computer - while it is true that you will ‘have it when you graduate’ it will be 4 year old computer with 4 year old speed and technology. You will want a new computer after 4 years (unless you are the kind of person who does not use a computer often). I’m stunned at the cost of the computer they are requiring you to buy. There is clearly a large mark up in that price.

That said, the campus is stunningly beautiful and it’s in a nice part of NJ.
