Drexel is my first choice, and I have visited, and loved it.
However, I am a little concerned that because of the dominance the co-op program has on campus, it takes away from the social aspect.

I definitely like the co-op, I just want to make sure there is still a good social scene.

Does anyone have any information on the subject?

I love Drexel but sometimes the social scene is a BIT lacking (only a bit). Everyone in my dorm is really fun and awesome to hang out with. There is always something to do in the city, if not on campus. South Street is great for hanging out and shopping. Walking from University City to Center City is beautiful and there is always somewhere to explore. The great thing about Drexel is that they give you a Cultural Passport as a freshman which gives you free or discounted entry into all the great historical landmarks and other cool places for example: the zoo, aquarium, eastern state penitentiary, etc. etc. Hall life is great as well. My RA rocks and already we’ve had a game night, a trip to the zoo, and a Black and White formal dinner party where everyone on my section of the floor cooked food and got together to hang out. The floor is also going on a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary haunted house sometime this week. There’s a lot of things to do on campus as well. One example is going on tonight which is the Late Night Series or LNS. It’s a free event that happens every Thursday from 8:30-10:30 PM. It’s a talent show where there are singers, musicians, rappers, poets, comedians, etc. Anyone can perform and it’s a ton of fun.

All of this sounds great, but now I will get to the part that is lacking. If you are looking for a party, you will search for a while. There are some cool scenes here, but sometimes they can be hard to find. Generally girls are free admission and guys are $5. A few parties I have been to have been really awesome, but sometimes they are too full so they aren’t fun, or they aren’t full enough. Places on Penn’s campus throw great, huge parties so if you are willing to take a 15 minute walk to get there, you’re set (prices are usually about the same). The most fun night I had here was probably when I went out to a club, however. That was $10 for under 21 and unfortunately it was a Wednesday night because that’s when it was under 21 but if you don’t do it every week then it’s super fun!

Overall, the social scene is pretty excellent, except a somewhat lacking “party” scene. Still if you find the right people, you will always have fun! If Drexel is your first choice and you loved it visiting, you will love going here to. Don’t let worries about social areas of life get in the way, because I can guarantee you will have PLENTY of fun here! :)
