Can anyone tell me some information about drexel university ? i only know it is in PA :|

Trimesters....not a good idea

Really? Trimesters hmm... All I know is that they've got a medical school and I'll be applying their after I'm done with undergrad. It is in Philly if I'm not mistaken.

It's an engineering school-cum-university with strengths in certain fields of engineering, digital media/music production and fashion, and has a co-op system which gives you more in-depth experience than conventional internships do.

It is located in Philadelphia's University City District (on the easternmost edge of West Philadelphia and having effectively seceded from it in all but name), where it is one of the two major universities--the other being the University of Pennsylvania.

It is certainly doing better than it once was..

The campus is grotesque.

Everyone thinks the campus is grotesque, but I really disagree. It's definitely not pretty or even attractive--but I wouldn't say it's TERRIBLE. The new buildings that have been constructed in the past few years are much nicer.
The only downside is that Penn students (and for some reason faculty) like to make a LOT of fun of it.

It's how we mask our deep insecurities, my dear! ;)

lol so I don't think drexel is decent ?

Uhhhhhh, no ilovebagels. The campus is repulsive. Point. Blank. Period.

There's a reason why the only strip of vegetation is called "Rape Garden."

I'll leave it at that.

Oh those state schoolers at Penn, always trying to direct the attention elsewhere ;)

It's a horrible campus with a horrible quality of student life. It is in Penn's shadow- literally. It is also an expensive school. It has some strong programs, but I would only recommend it to a student who has to live at home (in the Phila area) and gets some great scholarship money. There are just too many other better options.

Drexel has a high tuition (40k) but usually offers good scholarship money. It's in the top 100 Universities in the nation, terrible campus, decent academics, great accelerated BS/MD program. It's in Philly.

Over the weekend I went to Philly and saw the campus. The campus looks ugly, I think.

lol the campus is ugly ? could u briefly describe it ?
i search on google image but i cannot imagine how terrible it is :D
maybe I'll put drexel to safety since it is free to apply online :D lol

Please check out the "college visit" forum for Drexel Univeristy,in which I posted an in-depth review.

I also have a review that can be found at the top of the Drexel listing in the alphabetical college listing.

My son has a friend who is a 3rd year there. He did not have to work hard for his grades during his freshman year, but that changed sophomore year. He tried to transfer out, but did not have a high enough gpa to go to his "dream school", so he stayed. He is enjoying Drexel well enough to stay, and is getting work experience. My son has been there a couple of times and he stayed there for several days both times. My son says that he feels safe because of the amount of security around the campus. He was also told where he should and should not walk on his first visit, but he primarily drove a car. One nice thing seems to be convenient access to Amtrak/train service. His friend at Drexel uses it a lot to get home and to visit friends on other campuses.

gd016: I hope you were being sarcastic. You should know that Penn is not a "state school." It's Ivy League.

i can tell u absolutely nothing
I applied though...

My D just got an email from the Admissions Dean at Drexel asking her to apply. The email said it was some kind of VIP process. No essay, no fee, no this and that, but "please apply." The email said they saw her ACT scores (she only took the test 6 weeks ago) and would like her to apply. She's also a URM. I'm not sure what all this means. She's never heard of Drexel (she grew up in the midwest). First thing she asked me: "Daddy, what's Drexel? Where is it?" We live in PA but a decent distance from Philly. All I know is it's in Philly and the neighborhood isn't nice, although I admit I've never been there. That's just what I've heard.

Drexel is a private university in West Philadephia, right next to the University of Pennyslvania. It is a short walk from Center City Philadelphia (downtown).

You need to use your "city smarts" and not walk around where you shouldn't late at night alone, etc.

It is known for its 5 year coop program - where students work at companies for a year while in school.

It is best known for its engineering and computer sciences programs.

From what I have heard, it is pretty good with financial aid.

We live in the general Philadelphia area, have visited the school a few times, and my son applied and was accepted using the VIP application.

Hope this helps.
