Drexel vs. Rutgers-New Brunswick

Hey Guys,

I have recently narrowed down Drexel and Rutgers-NB as my top two options and am wondering which will be a better choice for me. I plan to major in Accounting/Finance. Attending Drexel will cost about 4-5k more for me but, I was admitted to their business school. While at Rutgers, I would have to transfer into the business school through SAS. I’m hoping to get some feedback on what would be a better choice academically and overall.

How hard is it in terms of grades and general process/stats.

@privatebanker Are you referring to the transfer process?

Is there a spelled out process to get into Rutgers Business? E.g., get a 3.0 and you are in? or do you have to apply and hope for the best?

@bopper I will need a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and will need to complete two required business courses, A Mathematics and Writing Course with a C or better if I am applying at the end of my freshman year.

@agroup “Admission is competitive, based on a limited number of seats available for the fall 2019 semester. Therefore, the criteria outlined below are minimum requirements and do not guarantee admission to the Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick (RBS-NB) undergraduate program.”

So there is no guarantee that you would get into Rutgers Business.

I would consider:

  1. Net cost - Drexel costs less…how would you pay for that? Can your family afford it or would you have to take out loans?

  2. Major: Drexel guarantees your business major. Rutgers does not. What would you if you couldn’t get into the business school?

  3. Location: Drexel is in a city while Rutgers NB is in suburbs/small city.

  4. Housing: What would the housing be like for all 4 years?

  5. School size: Rutgers is huge…you need to take a bus to get around. But that hugeness provides many opportunities.

Which has the better business school?
