drinking and smoking

im just wondering.. how many people on this thread drink or smoke?

Neither. I don't smoke because well...it is retarded. Why pay money to kill yourself.

I may drink half a Guinness once in a blue moon, but I NEVER get drunk. I am usually the one taking care of my drunk friends. I call them my "anti-drug" because I have seen what they go through being drunk; not remembering what they did, finding mysterious bruises, etc... I enjoy having my wits about me and have no desire to act like an idiot.

Same thing with drugs.

Neither here as well. I've got pretty bad asthma, so a few smokes and I probably would be dead. Second-hand smoke is already bad for me.

As for drinking, I haven't gotten into it yet.

Both my kids & hubby & I have asthma & are VERY sensitive to smoke. When I was in school, I couldn't even be near anyone who smoked because the scent would set off my allergies. Since my kids are even more sensitive, I think they will have to stay further from smokers.

Don't think either kid is interested in alcohol either, but who knows? The times we've offered them sips of our mixed drinks, both said it tasted too much like dreaded meds that they've HAD to take, so perhaps that was experience enough for them.

Son has a "weak stomach," so doubt he would do anything to increase nausea, like drink, but my crystal ball is cloudy.
HImom

i dont smoke and never will. it's an expensive and unhealthy habit.

i do drink though. i didn't start drinking till after i had already graduated from high school. i'll get drunk on the weekends sometimes but i know my limits. usually i'll go to parties with my friends and not have that much, but on ocassion i will get completely trashed.

I have smoked the past year and a half. I am not addicted, just more of habit. I never really have urges when i dont have one for a few days, but i still buy them to keep busy between classes and while driving. It is horrible for my excercise. But i have found that my body adapts very fast back to my non smoking stage. The day i smoke i can barely run. Yet a few days after i dont, its like i havent smoked at all. However, the cost is killing me and i am in the process of stopping, trying to focus more on excercise so i have a goal. Drinking is different....i do it occasionally. I love a beer here and there just to relax....not to often though, dont wanna get fat.

Never been a very big fan of smoking of any kind. I've tried it a few times, and it's just never been my thing.

As for drinking goes, I do like the ocasionally beer or two, however it is very seldom that I go out and get drunk. I can think of maybe 3 or 4 times I've honestly been drunk in the last 4-5 years.

never smoked or drunk in my life.

no smoking... just drinking in moderation

i drink alcohol excessively. often. i smoke weed occasionally. usually after drinking alcohol excessively.

i can honestly say i've never had a sip of alcohol and i've never smoked anything. i don't smoke, well for obvious reasons; i.e., i don't want to DIE anytime soon. i don't drink because it's never appealed to me and i'd much rather hang with my other sober friends and laugh at those who are drunk at a party so that we can tell them all the stupid stuff they did the night before.

Smoking is becomming more and more deviant nowadays and its good to see less and less of my friends doing it. I don't smoke but I drink socially. Weed just screws you over hell bad- once is bad enough.

I drink socially once in a long while and have never smoked.

haha I'm not sure why everyone's so against weed. Drinking has far worse side effects and much worse for your health. I know multiple people in the honors college here at penn state who smoke up on a daily basis with 4.0's

if you don't consider memory loss a bad side effect i guess weed isn't bad for u

The other thing about lung irritants--whether it's what you're smoking (pot or tobacco) or what you get from being around others who are is you can end up with very nasty lung conditions & become disabled & then society has to pay to support your medical care & lost wages.

Drinking can claim lives--those who drink & those who are affected by actions taken by those who drink. Add to that the loved ones of folks who drink, & it adds up, also increase the risk for some health conditions.

I am so surprised that anyone in college smokes at all! I saw my chem TA chain smoking outside everyday and she knows what those chemicals (over 43 being known carcinogens) do to her. It is just beyond me. Also all of the Asians smoking. You look and think, "I thought they were smart." But I guess it's the new place for advertising that junk.

Smoking always harms you (it takes less than 30 seconds for some of the effects to take place, ie shortness of breath, etc) and it's freakin nasty to others. Getting drunk harms you only unless you're an ******* about it. To each his own but don't clog up the doorways (that's just nasty).

Smoking of any type in public is mainly a way to isolate yourself and get everyone to hate you. It used to be common in America, now people can't stand the smell or the sight of it.

I used to drink heavily (look up a thread entitled how many beers can you drink) but I am now over six months sober, but I still smoke unfortunately. I still go to bars occassionally as that is what my friends do, and when I go I tend to smoke more than I normally would. One thing at a time I am quitting. I am targeting smoking for whenever I can get a job with normal hours.

I started drinking four weeks ago and every weekend since then I have gotten completely wasted. I think I have a really low tolerance. When 3 shots of vodka get you completely drunk, is that considered having a really low tolerance? What's normal?
