Drinking at UCLA

I've heard that the % of students who drink at UCLA is pretty low compared to other schools (I've heard like 65% or even lower). Is this true?

It’s a big school. There are plenty of people that drink and plenty of people that don’t drink.

Post #2 is absolutely correct. Drinking is not in your face here, and you can always find a sober crowd to hand out with, or if you want to find a drunk crowd you can do that too.

Drinkings is not excessive, but there is definitely drinking/parties in off-campus housing and frat houses…especially on Thursdays and weekends. UCLA has parties, don’t worry lol

Every college has people who drink – UCLA is a large school, but the student drinking rate is 20% lower than the average national drinking rate. Admittedly, pretty impressive.

By the way, If you don’t want the scotch, you don’t have to have it. College is about choices – I have friends who went to UGA (University of Georgia) a so-called “#1 drinking and partying school” but they managed to NEVER touch it in their 4 years and maintained perfect GPAs – One of them headed to Harvard. Drinking is prevalent everywhere, even at Ivies, and it shouldn’t be a defining turn off from a school. If you don’t wish to drink at UCLA, then you won’t drink. It’s as simple as that.

And actually, there ARE drug and alcohol free parties at UCLA and every university/college (YES, even the #1 party schools) – You’ve just got to really search them out (lol). UCLA is academically excellent, has a relatively low drinking rate compared to other colleges, and is in LA! :)

Then again, if you opened this thread to know if there are opportunities for drinking (Maybe I’ve misinterpreted your question…I don’t know.) then oh yes, you can have drunk parties in UCLA and all colleges. It’s very possible, and not drinking at all if you don’t wish to is also an option. The choice is yours, really. :)
