Ok I need some clarification here. I have heard it said that UCLA is a party school, and I have also heard it said that UCLA is a dry campus w/o much parties. Are there parties or not, and if so how wild are they? Also, how does one find out where the parties are at?

UCLA is whatever kind of school you want it to be.
if you don't party, you can surround yourself with non-partying people and avoid the party scene entirely. enough to make UCLA seem like a dry campus, just because from your perspective, it is.
on the other hand, if you're into partying, they DO exist. how wild, i can't say, having not partied a lot. there are parties every thursday night, and generally fri/sat as well. all you have to do is wander around the frats/apartments, and you'll find one ;)
so, your view of what UCLA is depends entirely on your experiences. UCLA is very balanced in this regard- it really isn't defined one way or the other.

like liyana said its a big enough school where there's everything. after seeing usc and hearing about some of the other state schools, i would definately not call UCLA a party school. meaning, if you not into parties they dont really affect your life. but if you are, they're out there every thurs and fri, sometimes sat. the parties i've been to aren't that wild, same as HS, but i hear some of the frat ones can be..

when you hear the term "dry campus" it more or less means that you can't walk around campus with a beer in your hand and expect not to get into trouble if seen by UCPD or another university official. it also means that alcohol is not served on campus. it doesn't have any bearing on whether people drink...

If you are party material, you will definitely know way beforehand. :)

the best resource to get into a party is boobs. everyone loves boobs.

they can get pretty damn wild, depending on who's there.

you find out where the parties are and what the themes are by befriending someone in the greek system. or just some alcoholics

^HAHAHAHA nice....

i personally hate the "wild" parties. they're waaay too loud and hectic. i went to a few, got waay too fcked up, and never did that again. The best parties are generally the smaller ones where you know (friends) all the people there and where you don't drink more than a few beers.
....getting drunk is WAAAy overrated IMHO.

oh yes, i am ****ing proud of myself. on thursday i only played 2 games of flip cup. :D

agreed bruinboy. the few hours of fun? (if even that, discomfort is more like it) you have is not worth the morning and day after...

lol moldau. ad team named ourselves Flip///LA for competition because flip cup is the team game. i do believe we were the only team at the competition so blatantly inspired by alcohol. yay bruins.

does ucla party? hah.

Is it because you sucked? Haha jk.

lol @ allie. i used to be more like that. now i'm kinda scared of alcohol!!!

Sounds like a lotta fun over there. I come from a small school that doesnt have any wild parties so I expect Ill party hard for a bit and then get bored of it, but since ive never done it, it seems pretty fun.

Another question: Is it hard for underage students to get alcohol? I have a good fake id but it would never pass a blacklight.

hahah if you can't buy it yourself, there are plenty of students with real ids. and people give it to you if you're a girl
