I felt so upset about not being good at driving. My mom said that I didn't have any time to drive because of having heavy subjects during 12th grade and school finals. How is it that AP Students get their driver's license throughout their junior year? I DON'T GET IT. Is saying I don't have time to learn driving an excuse or what?! I'm about to start college by Sept. 24th. I have this summer bridge program for college. I'm 18 years old (going to be 19yrs old by September). I'm going to feel embarassed at college that I don't have my drivers' license. It feels like everyone got their license at 16 or 17 yrs. It actually feels like I'm a beginner at driving. So please help or encourage me to solve this situation. Btw I'm going to be staying at an apartment during college. How am I going to manage learning to drive throughout college?

You get your permit sophomore year and then start driving with your parents throughout the summer… then get your license after the minimal requirements are met and drive shortly after junior year starts.

Ask your parents/grandparents/ aunts/uncles/cousins over 21 years old to drive with you early mornings/weekends/nights until you feel comfortable. You need to make it a priority-you still have 2 months. Best time to learn to drive the highways 6am Sundays- enough traffic to give you a challenge but not too many cars to freak you out. You have to make it happen if it is important to you.

i have friends in college who ask their other friends to teach them how to drive

so you could do that, but only if you have nice friends

seriously, not knowing how to drive in college is actually not as weird as you might think
(well i guess it depends what college you go to, everything at my school was within walking distance)

I just drove to school with my mom everyday. Then my mom would drive from school to work.

30 minutes of practice everyday :D

It’s not that hard. After like 3 random 20-30 min driving sessions with one of my parents spread out over most of the year I’ve had my permit I was able to drive very well.

Don’t worry, I got my permit this summer–I’m a rising senior-- so don’t feel bad!
