On a few submitted college applications (Harvard, Dartmouth, uoi-uc, northwestern, university of Pennsylvania, and rose-hulman among others) I wrote that I swam for 4 years. If I am not going to swim my senior year (meaning swimming only 3 years), what should I do on those applications? Should I call/email the school? or what? and what affect will it have on my chances for the school (a big difference or not much).

They say at the time when you were writing it, if it reasonably seems like you were going to do it, then write it. If not, it doesn’t really matter.

But my swimming season is about mid-way through and I am about ready to quit it because it is just miserable… Should I do anything with those applications?

Again: no you do not. If you had a reasonable reason to believe you were going to swim at the time you were writing it, you write it. If you are not able to, that’s that.

Oh ok, sweet, thanks!
