dropping a class.. dilemma..

hello,

i'm thinking of dropping a class, and i am worried because i put on the applications that i would take 15 credits but if i drop this class i will only have 13 credits..
if i get accepted and send my final transcript with a class missing on it, would colleges like brown and rice reject me because i failed to take all courses i was originally planning to take?
one thing is that since this class im thinking of dropping is a second half course, i will be able to drop it without W...
but im still worried..

any ideas?

thank you guys~

i wouldnt worry too much. As long as this class wasnt a pre-req needed to transfer. But just in case call the university or email to find out.

thank you for the reply~
yeh it's not a pre-req..
im just taking this math class kinda as an elective because this will probably be my last semester at my current school and i did not have any other class to take...
but im still worried... maybe i should call them and ask
hmm...
anyone successfully transferred to a top school after dropping a class or two?

bump~ anyone?

Why are you dropping this class?

too much work... and the instructor is so picky...

it's like i can get As or B+s for all other classes if i don't take this class
but with this class, i think i will mess up on the rest of classes im currently taking.. because this class is too much time consuming
yeh so i have to drop this class
as long as i won't be rejected because of this dropping..
hehe~

Just be careful, adcoms like Ws almost as much as they like Fs. I'd seriously call the adcom of your target school and ask. Especially if you have other Ws.

Good Luck!

oh i can drop this course without W because it's a second half course and it just started like 2 weeks ago.. so no W on transcript
wait... if i drop this class, with W or not, do adcoms simply look it as W because i failed to complete it?
i mean there is no difference between dropping a class with W and without W?

thanks~!

Sometimes its not even the students fault. I remember during drop/add time students were dropping cuz they were signed up for classes in different cities, or advisors signed them up for classes that they didnt have pre-reqs for. Also, some students drop/add to change sections etc etc.

I'm certain a dropped course doesn't show up on your transcripts. It's quite different from withdrawing from an attempted course.

Is there?

Maybe there is a difference of terminology between institutions, because there is a deadline to drop in our school and get a refund and the possibility to add another course.

Then there is a deadline late in the semester (usually after mid-terms) to drop without academic penalty.
