Dropping a class in my final quarter in Community College that is not explicitly required

For reference - I was accepted into UCSC, and waitlisted from UCSD as a Computer Science Major.

Under UCSC’s prerequisite requirements for Computer Science, Physics is not listed as a requirement, simply general sciences. I am fairly certain that this means that dropping my physics class should NOT affect my admissions status, and emailed the school to verify but am not certain I will get a reply before the drop deadline.

For UCSD, they suggest a variety of sciences as well to be completed but do not require them from what I have seen, particularly my friend who avoided Physics like the plague and got accepted regardless. (For reference, the class I’m taking is equivalent to Physics 4B at San Diego, which is also above the suggested course anyways)

I’m unsure if I can pass this class to begin with, and do not want to run the risk of getting rescinded. I will be calling the schools tomorrow when their admissions offices open, but wanted to see what everyone here thought as well.

Why do you want to drop this class?

I don’t like my chances of passing the class, the class average has been in the 40s with no curve.

What’s your grade so far?

by my estimate, around 50%. I need a 60% to pass.
